- There has been some concern over who would sign the 2017 budget with President Buhari away in the UK

- However, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that he will sign it when he is satisfied with the content

- Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has also criticized the media for misrepresenting his statement

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that he will assent to the 2017 budget when he is satisfied with the content.

This was revealed by Laolu Akande, Osinbajo's Senior Special Assistant-Media&Publicity on Wednesday, May 17 via his Twitter handle.

This was to counter the news that Information Minister Lai Mohammed said the government was unsure of who to sign the budget.

Below is what he tweeted: In an interview with Premium Times,

Lai Mohammed said the report that said there was uncertainty as to who will sign the 2017 budget was “mischievous” and “absolute rubbish”.

“They asked who’s going to sign the budget, the President or the VP. I said that does not arise. Do they want me to say President? Then, they ask when he is coming back? So, I say when it is transmitted to the Presidency, that decision will be taken,” said the minister.

Below are some reactions to the statement of the Acting President's spokesman: With President Buhari once again away due to medical issues, do you think he should hand over to Osinbajo?
