President Muhammadu Buhari's Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie has challenged state governors to pay outstanding workers salaries.

Onochie said Buhari has already granted access to bail out funds to pay salaries and pensions and she has no idea why some people have refused to pay up.

Recall that reported in December 2016 that President Buhari ordered governors in the country to pay workers in their states all outstanding salaries and entitlements.

The governors are to make the payments with parts of the at least 25 percent of the refunds made to them from excess deductions for external debt service.

Most governors have however flouted this direct orders by the president.

Meanwhile, the 36 governors of Nigeria have arrived at a decision to offset backlog of salaries and arrears of their workers as soon as a second tranche of funds from the Paris Club loan refund is released.

The decision came amidst rumour that the governors have squandered the first batch of Paris Club loan given to them to pay workers arrears by the federal government.

In a statement issued by Abulrazque Barkindo, spokesman of the forum, on Friday, the governors said they had resolved to offset all backlog of salaries and allowances owed their workers as soon as the second tranche of the fund was released.
